Record 1,000 km Trip on Single Charge by an Electric Car
An electric car in Japan has set a new world record by going for about 27 hours and passing over more than 1,000 kilometres on a single charge. The red and white Mira EV, which is fitted with a special lithium ion battery constructed by Sanyo, covered the distance at a speed of 40kmph, while driving with out stopping about a car racing course in Shimotsuma for 27.5 hours.
On the whole 17 people took charge of the navigation wheel of the electric car during its laps around the race course throughout the experiment.
The Japan Electric Vehicle Club, which prearranged the test run, is talking terms with the Guinness World Records to formally distinguish it as the world’s best ever electric car trip.
This accomplishment comes at a significant crossroads where the worldwide auto industry is revitalizing itself for an electric car boom and car producers are contending with each other to manufacture environmental friendly fomites vehicles.
The most recent electric vehicle drive of 1000 kms betters the former world record of uncharged driving 555.6 km, which was attained in November 2009 by the same Japanese organisation.
